Okay, so I want to see what you guys write. I went and found a creative writing prompt in some random far off unknown place of the internet. I want you guys to leave a comment that answers the prompt.

Here’s the Prompt:

In a paragraph describe the setting for a haunted house.

I’ll post mine too.

The house is painted dark gray. The paint is literally peeling back from the mildew encrusted walls. There is one window in the room. The glass has turned yellow with age causing the light shafts to be a dark, musty, yellow. Dust floats around the room, only to be seen in the light. There are two couches in the room. Both are covered in dust clothes that flow over the floor giving them ghostly looks. In the corner, there is a scorched fireplace with logs still in it. The carpet is the color of dried blood. It gives off the smell of antiques that everybody knows so well. The lights in the room are old style lamps on the walls. The glass on most are cracked, and none of them work anymore. The door into the room is newer. It is an dark oak door with the grains of wood are seen throughout.

Hopefully that was okay. Please give me any kind of help! Also PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post your own paragraph. I really want to see how you guys write!

Two Different Eyes

Authors Note:  Yet another prompt from my English teacher.  Everybody in the class had to write on the prompt, “I have a green eye and a brown eye.  The green eye sees the truth, but the brown sees much, much more.”  This is what I wrote.  Hope you enjoy it!

The darkness seemed to ripple around me as I stepped through the window.  The sense of just being in this house was horrific.  I could already see where it had taken place.  The first thing I saw was the smell.  The smell being emitted from the carpet was very faint.  Someone had tried to cover it up, but I could still see it.

It was a somewhat metallic smell.  It gave off more of silver and red smells.  Obviously this had been murder.

Now, some of you might be confused, “What kind of typo is that.  Seeing smell.”.  Well actually, it isn’t a typo.  You see, I was born with a green eye and a brown eye.  The green eye sees the truth, but the brown sees much, much more.

I can literally see smells and tastes.  After a lot of practice I can tell the differences.   The police value my ability.  They hired me because I could tell what had happened at a crime scene just by looking at it.  I could also track down the culprit by their smell.  Every person has an individual smell.  You just had to look for it.

My sergeant was standing next to me.  In less than a second, I grabbed his gun and kicked him in the chest.  This propelled him back through the window we had entered.  Then I went after the murderer.  I ran through the city.  All the different smells were disorienting, but years ago, I had learned to single out smells. I had learned to follow that one smell I was following.   I followed  the murderer’s smell to the freeway.  It was one o’clock in the afternoon.  There were no cars around.  The murderer had taken off into the scorching  desert.

“Even better,” I muttered, “I will be able to find him that much easier.”

As I took off into the desert,  the smell of baked clay and sand was orange.  I could see a trail of the scent of red blood weaving through it.  Diesel black intermingled he was definitely in a big diesel truck.  I searched, but there were no traces of any other smell.  So he was alone.  I leaped aboard a truck which headed in the same direction.  The city fell behind and the mountains rose up ahead.  Suddenly the trail veered off the road.  I jumped off and rolled straight into a solid oak tree.  Something cracked.  As I started to sit up I saw the grey coming off of the fungus I had landed on.

I also saw heat radiating off of a diesel truck.  There was a man leaning on it watching me.  As soon as I got up, I threw a punch straight at his face.  Instead of connecting with his nose, my hand connected with the truck window.  Glass punctured my hand.  The man took the opportunity of my surprised pain and kicked my feet out from under me.  His dexterity didn’t cease to amaze me.  In the time that I was falling to the ground he shot a punch straight to the my shoulder.  It caused me to cart-wheel through the air and onto the ground.  My gun dropped from my hand and skid to under the truck.  I looked up only to get a kick to the face.  I could feel, and smell, the blood start to come from my nose.

Luckily for me, I had been in a couple of fights before.  I swung my hand out just as his foot came back from the kick.  I grabbed his ankle and pulled.   He flung out onto the ground just next to me.  I jumped to my feet to get the advantage.  I looked down at the murderer.  I looked down at  many different smells.  This was the man I was looking for.  This was my enemy.  He too, had two different colors in his eyes.  His eyes, however, didn’t see smell.  His eyes saw how things worked.  Mostly, his eyes saw the flaws in bank vaults and rich men’s windows.   He made the ultimate criminal.  But I had found him.  It was done.  I could now relax.

I heard the police sirens approach us.  I kicked out his hand as he grabbed for my gun.

“Yeah, I don’t think so.  Not this time.”  I said as I looked down at him.  I  could literally see the smell of his strong emotions, defeat, fear, and… and… and  there was something else.  I could smell… respect.  He respected me for catching him.  I had done what no one could do before me.   The sergeant  pulled up and stepped out of his car.  As he walked past me to put the handcuffs on the criminal, he shouldered me straight into the truck.  Ouch, that was going to leave a bruise in the morning.

Pill, Bell, Detour

Authors Note:  Okay, here’s an interesting exercise that my teacher had us try.  She gave us a paper with hundreds of random words on it.  Then, we closed our eyes and pointed at the paper.  Whatever word we landed on we wrote down.  We repeated three times.  Then, we had to write a story with these three words in it.  My words were Pill, Bell, and Detour.  Hope you enjoy.  Please leave comments.  Here is a good website to get words at if you would like to try this:

Rachael rang the doorbell of 55th Avenue in Little Rock, Arkansas.  Mrs. Pruette had called several days before and asked her to babysit her two kids, Max and Seth.

They were identical twins and were four years old.

Mrs. Pruette answered the door.

“Okay, Medicine is in this cabinet over here, the kids bedtime is eight-thirty, Don’t let them have any chocolate.  Max is allergic to Styrofoam.”  Mrs. Pruette rambled.  “I’ll just be at the theater if you need anything. Call me if you need anything.”

Mrs. Pruette then proceeded to leave.  As the car drove off Rachael could hear the bells in the distance.

The bells meant that is was seven o’clock.  She thought she heard a crash from downstairs.  She flew down the stairs. When she got down, she found out that Max and Seth had been shooting each other with dart guns.  Max had accidentally shot Seth in the eye.  Seth then fell over, bumped the television and sent the vase on top toppling to the ground.  Inside the vase was a piece of paper.

“What’s this?” Rachael mumbled as she bent down to pick it up.  She unfolded the piece of paper to reveal a map of the house.  The map was dated 1689.  The map also revealed many a passage way in the house.

“Max, Seth, did you guys know about the secret passage ways?” Rachael asked.

“Yeah,” Max said as he pointed to the map, “Our room is  down this one.”

They set off down the passage that led to their bedroom.  The main passage was blocked by rocks so they ended up taking a couple  detours.

Finally Rachael put the kids to bed and watched the horror movie on channel 73.

The movie was about a boy who’s parents had left him alone.  While he was there alone he got murdered by an insane homicidal maniac.

She jumped when she heard the passage door shut.  She set her glass of water down o the coffee table and went to the boys room.  They were both sound asleep.  She went back and drank some water.  It tasted bad.  Then she saw him, a man in black, standing behind the TV.

“Your resistance is futile, young fool.” The man said.  “The doors are jammed, windows don’t open, and actually, your already dying.” Rachael stopped and spun.

“What?” She yelped.

Well, you see,” The man said slowly coming towards her. ” I put a pill in your drink.  this pill was full of arsenic and cyanide.  This will kill you in a matter of minutes.”

“Who are you?” asked Rachael, stunned to the spot by fear.  As soon as she asked, the man pulled off his mask.  The thing that bugged Rachael was that it was Mrs. Pruette.

“With this many passage ways, the police will never find you?  By the time they do find you, I will live far, far away.

Then, Rachael passed out never to be seen again.

The Hrimthurssar

Author’s Note:  Yet another assignment for school.  This was written for a Mythology class.  It is all about Norse Mythology.  It most definitely is not accurate.  However, this story is over two years old at this point and I really haven’t thought about it since then.  Hopefully I could spell back then.  Since I still can’t spell, I probably couldn’t back then either. Hope you Enjoy.

Lonti was a normal Hrimthurssar.  His life was boring except for the battles they had everyday in the canyons.  These battles were all planned for.  Instead of a school, they had a war almost everyday, it was training for what his parents called Ragnarok.

Lonti was born in a very strange time.  A time of great confusion and wickedness.  Magic was still at work.  The Gods were still seeing Ragnarok.  His parents were the normal Hrimthurssar.  They had grown up normal.  Fighting and beating the crap out of about everyone.

They didn’t have very much money and lived in a cave.  It was on a very stormy night that his parents had him.  The first thing that Lonti ever saw was lightning.  He grew up in that cave.  When he turned one, he was taught to stay in the cave at night because of the monsters outside it.

As soon as he had turned two years old, his parents had trained him with throwing rocks.  They said that it was the way of the giants.  Every good giant knew how t use throwing rocks.  He especially like the really small and flat river pebbles.  He learned from his brothers that they hurt the most.

By the time he turned three he could use a frost sword, a frost sword is a normal sword but it is jagged sharp, it rips not slices.  It was a grayish white.  The handle was grey, but the blade is white.  That way it is hard to see in the snow.  Every day he would duel with his brothers.  Then when it got dark, he would take on a single monster.

As soon as he had turned four, his parents sent him to the canyons and made him fight in the war.  These wars were like fighting a single monster.  The only thing that was different was that there were a lot of them.  They normally more fierce too.

When he turned five he started to go to the harder canyons.  One of them was called Kesevan.  This was a very wide canyon with a lot of boulders in it.  When he got there it looked like there was nothing in the canyon except for him and a couple of friends.  They walked forward about  two feet and stopped.

“Someone go ahead.” His friend said.

“I’ll go!”  Said Lonti.

He walked forward, a rustle came from behind him.  He looked over and his friends had taken a step back.  He walked past a boulder and WHAM!!!!!  A giant wolf jumped out and tackled him.  He threw it off and pulled out his frost sword. The next thing jumped at him was a skeleton.  Lonti had heard of them before but thought that they were just a myth.

It pulled out a scythe.  They started to fight.  It was the first thing that Lonti had fought with a weapon since he had dueled his brothers.  He had never even fought someone with a scythe.  The scythe ripped his sword out of his hand.  The skeleton was about to slice him in half when a wolf tackled him.

Immediately the wolf changed.  It’s face was that of a wolf, but it’s body was definitely human.  Lonti had seen something like that before, what was it.

I remember that it was on a wooden box.  The wooden box opened and inside was a bunch of leaves.

Then a very loud thought went through his mind.  A berserker.

Lonti reached the Berserkers sword and ripped it out of his sheath.  He then cut the Berserkers leg.  He rolled out from under him and started to fight again.

He later learned that Kesevan meant undead surprises.

Today he was especially bored because instead of a war, they had a class.  This class was a weekly thing.  In it they taught them that the Norse gods were evil, especially Thor and Odin.  The only one that wasn’t considered evil was Loki.  Lonti had only seen him once.  Loki had come to the village and told them that Ragnarok would take place soon, but that he didn’t know when.

Today they were learning about Idun.  They were reading a story about how Loki had tricked Idun into coming out of Asgard.  They didn’t mention anything else about this story.

Lonti was particularly interested in Surt, the god of fire.  He hadn’t learned much about him.  All he knew was that he would help the giants in Ragnarok, whatever that was.

As he walked out of class that day he stopped the teacher.

“What is Ragnarok anyway?” Lonti asked.

“Well,” replied the teacher. “It’s kind of complicated; I’m surprised that you don’t already know what it is.  It’s a war much worse than what you’ve been doing.”

The teacher started to walk off.  “Well, why does everyone know it is going to happen?” Asked Lonti. He sprinted up next to his teacher.

“Loki knew that the end of the world would come to an end.  He and a lot of other gods foresaw it.  It would end in a war.”

The next day Lonti went to the canyon Frol.  He had to fight in the war as usual.  This time it was harder than usual.  He had started to notice that these small wars were getting bigger and harder.  He was fighting giant falcons.

These falcons were huge, the size of a grown mortal.  Their claws would rip through flesh like a hot knife through snow.

Over seven years later, Lonti was having his birthday.  He was turning fifteen.  For a frost giants fifteenth birthday they get their armor and real weapons.  These were assigned by the seer of the village.  Black meant a very fierce warrior.  Red meant quick and light-footed.

White meant great potential and would play a huge role in Ragnarok.

Only two giants had gotten white, until now!  Lonti had received White with black lining.  His weapon was called a Swafe.  It was a bow staff with frost swords on each end.  But they could also freeze the cuts.

He immediately started to train with it.  One day he started to fight in one of the mini wars in the canyons.  He was shredding.  The falcons and wolves had no chance.

He had just got through fighting the wolf chieftain.  Then, a strike of lighting hit the cliff above him.  This caused a huge boulder to hurl down upon him.  Someone yelled something but he didn’t here it.  The boulder barely missed him.  He could see someone above him on the cliff.  They jumped off and landed on their feet unhurt.

“Ragnarok!!!!!!” The seer cried from behind.

A huge surge things, people, and animals poured off the cliff towards them.  Immediately, just like in training Lonti started to fight.  He had shredded a lot of people when he finally got to the first man who had come off the cliff.

He had a strange uneasy feeling that he’d seen him before.

“Who are you stranger?” Lonti yelled above the madness.

“Who am I?  I have led this army here under the command of my father.  I am Thor.”  The man cried.

They started to fight.  It was one of the fiercest battles that any of the Hrimthurssar’s had ever battled.

“Why,” Thor asked. “Are you fighting for Loki?  He is evil.  All he wants is the end of the world?”

In the end, Lonti had wounded Thor but had gotten defeated.  He wasn’t dead but he was really close.  While he was lying there, he had a lot of time to think.  He realized that Thor was right.  All he had been taught as a kid was to kill.  He got up and ran back to his village.  It was chaotic.  He could see someone standing out.  He was casting a spell.  It was Surt.  He could tell what he was doing.  He was making a huge fire.  Lonti ran towards him running through anyone who got in his way.  He was weak but he had just got an adrenaline rush.  He got to Surt but it was too late.  The fire had started.  He basically killed Surt.  Then everything sunk into the boiling Sea.

Authors Note:  I wrote this almost a year ago so I’m not guaranteeing it’s the best version yet.  It is still has a long way to go I think.  Hopefully my quick proofread will help.

A scream came from down the hall.  Josie ran down to see what the matter was.  As soon as she walked into the room, she gasped.  She knew why Marianne had screamed.  There, on the floor was Jake, dead.

“What happened?!” asked Josie.

“I-I-I have no c-clue,” replied Marianne, “I was c-coming to give him a p-paper and I found him l-like this.  What should we do?”

“I’ll go and phone the police!”  Said Josie as she walked out of the room.

Minutes later Detective Bradon walked out of the room talking to        Dr. Mycenae.  He put something in his pocket. Dr. Mycenae said something to the detective and then the detective nodded.

“You are very lucky and yet unlucky.” Said Dr. Mycenae.

Two paramedics rushed into the room where Jake lay.

“He is alive, but only barely. From what we see, he was clubbed on the head with an unknown object, and then he was poisoned.”

“That’s horrible!!” Exclaimed Marianne. “Shouldn’t we do something?”

“That is why this very amazing detective is here.” Said the doctor. “He will piece together the mystery and catch the criminal.”

Dr. Mycenae left with the paramedics who were carrying Jake.

“Is there anyone else that works here?” he asked.

“Yes and no. You see, he quit a while ago.  His name was Fred.” Said Marianne.

“Let me look around for a bit.” Said Bradon

He looked around the hallway.  Then he went into Marianne’s office.  They followed him.

“Nothing here.” he said after a fast but good check.

After they checked a couple rooms like the kitchen, the front office, and the attic, they entered Josie’s room.  They looked a bit before he opened a drawer.

“What goes here?” He asked.

“My first aid kit.” Josie replied.

“What was in it?” Bradon asked.

“Well, there are bandages, scissors, gauze, sleeping injection and…” Josie stopped talking dead in her tracks.  “Could they have s-stolen i-it?”

“Either you are the murder or they stole it, yes.” Replied Bradon.  He kept searching.

After searching for along time, he stopped by Josie’s desk.

“Hey, Marianne, why did Fred quit anyway?” asked Josie.

“Because,” said the detective, “they got into a fight.”

“Ok” said Josie.

“Maybe the most unlikely place.” He suddenly said.

He pulled his hand out of his pocket and opened Josie’s sandwich.

“Nope, it’s not in here.  I will be back.”  He said as he left the office building.

Marianne sat there and ate her sandwich.  Umm, this tuna is so moist and soft. She thought. I wish I could have it this way every day.  Hmm, I wander if tuna is any good if it is crunchy.

Josie sat in her office looking out the window.  Sure is a nice view from here.  I’m hungry she thought, I’ll eat my sandwich.  Umm, this is good, but why is it crunchy, tuna isn’t crunchy, it’s supposed to be moist.  Maybe it’s the new brand. Oh well. Ohhh, I’m getting so tired, she yawned.

It had been exactly three days since Jake had been hurt.  Marianne sat in her office and ate her sandwich.  Oh, this P-B-and J is so good.

Josie sat in her office. Oh this tuna is so good. I should get this brand more often. There was a scratching sound.  Stupid rats. She thought, Why don’t we go and get a trap to put in the office.

“Hey Marianne,” she yelled, “go put a mouse trap in the attic.”

“Ok, just let me find one.” Marianne replied.

Josie listened to the footsteps of Marianne fade as she went to the attic.

Then the rats stopped.  Josie heard footsteps.  She turned to see a man in a black overcoat pointing a gun at her.

“W-who are you?” she managed to stutter.

A familiar voice spoke. “Your worst nightmare.”

He started to pull the trigger when something tackled him.  In fact, two people tackled him.  It was Marianne and somebody else.  The someone else took the gun and pointed it at him.  The somebody else looked at me.  It was Jake, but he looked very sick.

“I knew his plans.”  Jake said. “He only tried to murder me twice.  I’ve been up in the attic for a day and all I could do was scratch.”

“So that was you?” Josie said, “That means that Marianne untied you?  Then who is this?”

“This” said Jake “is your favorite detective Bradon.”

Yeah!!” said a gruff voice, “and I almost had you. If the stupid container would have killed you.”

“What c-container?” asked Josie.

The sleep medicine that I put in your sandwich.” he replied.

Josie spit about twenty times then she called the police.  She explained what had happened.

“So the real Bradon was at his office the whole time okay, so who is this?”

“It’s Fred.” Jake replied.

“So,” said Marianne, “that’s why he knew why Fred quit.”

“Yep.” said Jake.

“Ok,” Josie into the receiver. “This is Fred an old worker of ours.  He got into a fight with another client and so he quit.  He had apparently come back for revenge.”

She hung up.

“They’re coming to pick him up now.”

They all soon started a detective business.  Jake became a major detective and solved many mysteries that the police couldn’t.

Marianne was his secretary.  She worked day and night.  Last but not least was Josie.  She worked as a double.  Most of the time, she would work with Marianne as a second secretary, but every once in a while, she would double as a detective.

It’s weird how I’m writing this story.  To put it frankly, Dead People don’t write.  Their Dead.  However, I am one of those few exceptions.

It was actually a quite miraculous day.  I remember it like it just happened, and I assure you, it didn’t.

It started out in the early hours of the morning.  I specifically remember waking up.  Some unseen noise had sounded and woke me into a panic.  My eyes shot open.  The moonlight had started to flood through my window and it spilled onto my floor.  Had I not put the blinds down when I went to sleep?  Had I even put them up the day before?  I couldn’t remember.

I was just about to fall back asleep when I heard the sound again.  It was a loud mechanical sound coming from below me.  It was probably just an old fire alarm and it’s batteries were probably about dead.

I decided I should go and get it before it woke anyone else up.  I crept down the stairs to the main floor.  It beeped again.  It was obviously coming from somewhere in my basement.

Now, a lot of people would have been fine going to their basement.  I, however, am not.  At least, not in the middle of the night.  You see, our basement is unfinished.  The bare cement walls are always radiating the cold toward you, there are huge stacks of insulation on the very sides of the hallways, and there was a deep dark pocket under the stairs that always made you wonder what lived there.

I slowly made my approach down the stairs.  When my feet hit the cold concrete floor, I knew I was in for a surprise.  I couldn’t see a thing.   All of the sudden,  I heard a noise.  There were footsteps slapping across the floor.  When I turned on the lights, no one appeared to be there.  Everything seemed to be in the correct spot.  Just as I was headed back to the stairs, the lights went out and someone had hit me from behind.  Luckily it wasn’t enough to knock me out.  I got up and ran towards the direction of the stairs.  Once more, my mysterious pursuers knocked me down.

This time I jumped up and I could just barely make out the intruders profile.  That was about when my cougar reflexes kicked in.  I remembered my CHUCK NORRIS skills.  I pulled off an ultra fast Round-House-Kick-To-The-Face.  I am , SO, sure it looked pretty sweet with my Bad Boy PJ’s on. He fell to the ground and didn’t get back up.  I cheered sweet victory and headed for the stairs.  As I did, I ran into the cement wall and was knocked out cold.

The next thing I remember was when I woke up and found myself dead.  I found myself dead.  I know, what a crappy ending.  I don’t even know how I died.  Now nobody ever will.

“I need two of you guys to run the concert tonight.” Mr. Faulk said.

He needed somebody to run the Grand Concert for the very last night.  Two kids raised their hands for volunteering.  One of them had long brown hair with a tint of red.  her eyes were also brown to match her hair.  her name was Mikayla, but she went by Kayla.

The other kid that raised his hand had brown hair that had blonde highlights at the tips.  His eyes were a piercing hazel.  His name was Adam.

“Okay, you guys get the job.”  Mr. Faulk continued.  “Since you guys have never ran the grand concert before, I’ll explain it in the auditorium. ”

The class got up and started walking towards the auditorium.

“So, you excited for the concert tonight?” Adam asked Kayla.

“Of course  I am!”  she replied in her sweet high voice.  “I’ve been wanting to run this concert all year.”

They reached the auditorium.  Mr. Faulk unlocked the doors and they proceeded to enter.

The auditorium was dark.  They could only see into the front two rows of the chairs.

One of the other class members flipped the lights on.

On stage they could see the bleacher like stands that the choir would stand on, to the right of that was a spot for Orchestra, and in front of all that was the bands area.

“Okay,” Mr. Faulk started. “you’ll need to get six wireless mics, for the orchestra, six corded mics for the band, and the choir teacher has her own mics that you’ll have to set up.”

“Then, one of you will run the lights for the show and the other will work the sound board.  After the show, turn everything off and go clean-up the stage.”

“I call working the sound board.” Kayla called.

“Fine, I guess I’ll work the lights.” Adam said with a sarcastic depression in his voice.

“Ok, see-yah-then!”Kayla called to Adam.

“Yep, see-yah-then.” Adam replied just as the bell rang.

A few hours later, Adam walked towards the front doors of the school.  He pulled open one of the doors and started to walk down the hall.  When he reached the auditorium doors he pulled them open only to find out that Kayla was already there.  In fact, she was already setting the mics up.

Adam helped her finish up the last of the mics.

“So, why’d you come so early?” Adam asked Kayla.

“Oh, I didn’t have anything to do, so I thought I’d come over here and start setting up.” She replied.

She was working on the sound board and was concentrating on setting the EQ levels.  Adam started to adjust the lights.

It was so silent that Adam could literally feel it in his ears.  He couldn’t take it any longer.   “Wasn’t it kind of creepy being in here alone?” Adam asked, breaking the wall of silence.

“Oh, not really, I knew I wasn’t going to die or anything.  If somebody died it would definitely be you.”

“Really, and why is that?” Adam asked.

“Well, first of all, I’m a girl.  Nobody wants to kill a girl.  Second of all I don’t have any enemies or anything.”  Adam was about to reply but the principal came out just then.  He announced the assembly and everything.

After two hours of singing and the sound of playing instruments, people started to file out of the auditorium.  The concert had gone very smoothly.  All of the mics had been positioned perfectly, and the EQ levels were also set perfectly.

Adam and Kayla started to clean everything up.

A half-an–hour later, Kayla had to leave.

“I told my mom I’d be back by nine and it’s already nine-thirty. ” Kayla told Adam.  “I’ll probably be in  enough trouble already.”

“Ok, I’ll finish cleaning.  See-yah-later.”  Adam said.

Kayla ran out of the auditorium, leaving Adam one of the few people in the school.  In fact, there were only three people in the school.  A janitor and two students.

All Adam had to do now was put the mic chords away.  He started to walk up to the tech booth with all of the mic chords in hand.  The only sound he could hear were his own footsteps.  He slowly opened the door into the dark booth and proceeded to put the mic chords away.

Then, he turned off all of the lights in the auditorium.  He was about to leave when he heard something in the auditorium.  It sounded like someone was walking on the stage.  From the booth, he peered into the blackness of the dark.  all he could see was a nothingness so deep, he could be in space.

he opened the door and started to carefully walk down the steps.  By then, the footsteps had long stopped.

This made him very nervous,  Whoever it was could literally be anywhere.  He cautiously made his way to the door.

It wasn’t until ten feet from the door when he noticed them.  In the very corner, where the darkness was thickest, stood a figure.  As soon as Adam saw them, he bolted past and through the double doors.  He was aware of only three things.

One, a gunshot had rang out behind him.  That meant that the person was trying to kill him.  Two, the steps of someone chasing him, and three, only a few emergency lights were on.  This caused shadows of every proportion were thrown everywhere.

Adrenaline was pumping in Adam now.  He heard another deafening gunshot behind him.  The bullet ricocheted off of the wall above his head.  He put on another burst of speed.

By this time he had reached the stairs.  He was starting to go up but made a last minute decision and changed his mind.  His shoulder slammed into the corner of the wall.  Pain flew through Adam as he continued to run.

He was now in the gym hall.  He turned back to see his pursuer was not yet in the same hall.  Seeing this,  he took a quick right and flew into the locker room.

The room was dark.  Darker even, then the auditorium had been.  He found a corner by the lockers and huddled up in a ball.

The darkness pressed in on him.  He felt like it was suffocating him.  His heart was pumping so fast it was literally making his whole body heave, but that wasn’t event the worst part.  his breathing was very heavy, a sure give away if they came in here.  The smell of sweat and deodorant were strong in his nose, so strong in fact, that he could taste them.

Besides his breathing, he could only hear the persons footsteps.  They stopped right outside of the locker room door.  He heard the door creak open slowly.  He immediately took a huge breath and stopped breathing.  The footsteps continued to get closer.  They stopped right in front of him.  A flashlight turned on.  It was pointed directly at Adam.  Adam could feel his mind start to black out.

The hand holding the flashlight belonged to a girl.  The nails were long and painted bright pink.  Adam knew those nails.  His eyes traveled to the girls face.

He had been right.  Towering above him stood Kayla.  She was smiling.  At first Adam started to laugh.  He thought that the whole thing had been a cruel joke.  Then he noticed the gun.  This time, he blacked out completely.  Kayla bent down and kissed Adam’s forehead.

“Goodbye.” She whispered.

At the same time, on the other side of the school an old man, the janitor, was mopping up the last hallway.  he heard a bang from somewhere.

He looked up a little startled.

“It was only something falling.” He muttered to himself.  “Or, I’m just going crazy,  just going crazy.”

The street light at the end of the street flickered once and then went out.  It had been a long day and I only wanted to get home.  But how could I go home?  How could I face my family?  Not after what I had done today.  No, I absolutely couldn’t face them again.  It wasn’t my fault though.  Greg had made me.  I had no choice, right?

Well, I guess I have thoroughly confused you all by now.  Let me back up a week or two.

I remember the night distinctly.  I had actually been walking in about two alleys down from where I am standing now.  I remember walking past an alley thinking, “Crap, I hate living in the city.  Whenever I walk home there’s like a fifty-five percent chance I get mugged.”  Quite ironically, not two seconds after I had thought that, a guy popped out and tackled me.  I went flying through the air with my assailant.  We hit the ground with a slapping thud.  I was dazed.  I lay sprawled across the ground watching the night sky.  I couldn’t remember how I had gotten there or anything.

That’s when the person stepped into view.  Within in seconds, I had swept their legs out from under them.  I had no idea how I had just done that.  I never took Karate or anything.  In fact, as a kid, I was more of a nerd than the sporty type. I was still pondering this as I realized the person was laying next to me.  I got up as fast as I could and got ready for a fight.  The person didn’t get back up.  They obviously hadn’t expected that kind of blow from me.  I started to survey the scene a little bit.

The person was wearing all black.  They had a mask with some strange logo on it.  The logo was a lightning bolt hitting a speaker.  What was it?  Why was the man wearing it?  I thought it might just be a brand name for a mask.  Oh, how mistaken I was.  Anyway, the street was still silent, apparently nobody had heard our brawl, or at least they didn’t want to hear it.  Yet another thing I hate about the city.

The man was starting to come to.  His eyes started to flicker open.  I hurried and pulled the mask off to see who it was.  It was Greg, my co-worker.

“Greg, what in the crap are you doing?!”  I screamed, “Is this a practical joke, or where you really trying to mug me?”  Well, as it turns out, he really was trying to mug me.  You see, he Greg was actually in need of money.  He had a lot of debt, and no way to pay it off.

“You see,”  He explained, “I am currently trying to join a… group.  This group has promised to pay my whole debt, if only I can make it past their initiation.”  (If it had been a movie, ominous music would have started to play).

I obviously asked him what this group was called.

“I can only give you their code name,  telling you their real name would only bring us both misery.  A lot of misery.” He replied, “They call themselves the LoudFlash.”  Oh, that would explain the logo on his mask.

“Please man!!  I need help.  Their initiation means getting three-thousand dollars.  I don’t know if I can do this alone.  Will you please help me?”

That brought me up to today.  I had been at work when Greg approached me.

“Hey, how’s it going?” He asked, “So, I was wondering,” his voice got quieter, “I got a job for you.  It will only take two hours.  Here’s the plan.”  He handed me a black and silver flash drive.  ” The password is teeth-702.  Remember that.”  Then he walked away.

I walked back to my desk and plugged the flash drive in.  A password popped up.  I looked around to make sure nobody was watching, then I typed it in.  Only three-seconds later did a blueprint of a toothpaste factory pop up.  Apparently, the plan was to break into this specific toothpaste factory and steal the secret recipe for the fresh minty taste.  My job in the whole plan was to sell them a program to the company.  This specific program would allow access to the pass-card that Greg had.

The whole plan went according to plan.  I sold them the program for seven-hundred dollars.  Nice sell, huh!  The rest of the day, I had felt guilty.  In fact, that sums up everything until now.  The street light I’m passing flickers but stays on.  I jump at the sound of my phone buzzing.  Email, I thought.  I pull out my phone and check the email.  Blocked.  The sender is blocked.  I didn’t even know that you could do that.  After I have opened it up, I realize who it’s from.  It reads:

So, I here you write software.  You’re a computer wiz.  Good, that is exactly what I need.  I hope you are also pretty good with hardware, you will definitely be needing both of those skills to get past your initiation.  Anyway, you will have to email me back if you want the job.  I’d really think about it if I were you.  You don’t want to end up in a lot of trouble.

Under the signature was their classic logo.  The lightning bolt striking the speaker.

I walked on a little longer thinking about it, but my mind was already set.  How could you turn that down.  Bad things happen to people who turn down the mafia.  My fingers deftly found the keyboard and typed in three letters.  Y-E-S.

Hence I got started in business with the LoudFlash Mafia.
